Topic: How does the Key algorithm work?
How does the key algorithm work in vdj or any other mixing software ? For it to determine the key, does it do the average of all of the possible keys available on a song or what. Coz for a song we have the bass, mid and high inform of melodies, vocals, drums etc.

For instance, let's say we have song with deep bass and drums but the vocals of the artist are quite high (feminine) so what will determine the key, the low, mid, high or all.

I had to ask since sometimes when mixing songs of same key you clearly realise they don't match very well. On the other hand the opposite maybe true or you can mix the instrumental of different key with some vocals and you get a perfect match. Like this works 80% of the time.

Music is made up of notes. Keys relate to the specific notes used.

The detection checks to see what notes it can find, then tries to work out the key based on what notes were used. If the music contains all the notes of a particular key then it's easier to determine the correct one.

Certain keys are compatible because they either contain all the same notes or most of the same notes.
