I would like to keep a small part about 1 minute of a video I have for using for parties. but have no idea how to do so. been using VDJ for ages but never used video any help on how to do so would be fantastic

Do you already have this sample, or are you trying to capture this one minute sample? What format is the video in?

I am trying to capture 2 minutes of a 30 minute video for a football presentation event the video is a MP4 File (.mp4)

If you want to edit a video, then you need (surprise surprise) video editing software. You can do this directly in Windows 10 - assuming that's what you're running. Google is your friend.

thanks I have had a read of the manual video bit but was still uncertain of how to save a clip.

Using the save button :)
This saves the edit as a vdjedit file, so it can only be played within virtualdj.
