trying to connect my laptop and control up to audacity but every time i do i only get sound recording out of one deck any help how to connect it up properly

Perhaps if you tell us (and preferably post a pic of) how you've got things set up now?
By the way, VDJ has a built in recording option. You don't need to use Audacity.
