I purchased a Hercules DJ 4 Set MIDI controller awhile back and am disappointed with the built in effects on the controller and I am wondering if there is a tutorial on how to use the beat grid to make different sounds or if its possible to use it like a sound board.
Also I dont know what section to put this in but any help would be great. On my laptop I have full keyboard so I am wanting to turn the number pad on the far right side as a 9 key sound board basically. Any help on how to map this on my own or a simple dowloadable plugin to do this would be greatly appreciated.

VirtualDJ LE is free limited software and only has basic built-in effects. Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/How%20do%20I%20change%20the%20skin%20or%20use%20plugins%20in%20VirtualDJ%20LE%20or%20Console%20Edition.html
For more advanced effects and much, much more, you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Professional at a considerable discount: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html (Enter your VirtualDJ LE serial number in the box to to receive the discount.)
BeatGrid is used to perform 'beat mashing'. The order can be changed by clicking on the squares (Go to EFFECTS -> BeatGrid.) It cannot play samples or act as a sound board. The sampler is used for this and allows upto 12 samples. However, LE is limited software and does not support loading or saving samples (You can only record them on the fly.)
In the full Pro, you could map keys on the number pad to trigger samples (E.g: sampler 1 play_stop)
