Hey i just bought my first turntables and i've got the program virtual DJ.. but i want to make my own songs ...example: produce the melody and place a beat to it etc.. etc.. does anyone have a good (free) program ? I would also like to remix songs that i know, but not just with my turntable; because all i can do with that is change the bass, treble, medium and pitch..basically. i want to make my own music and remix songs by adding a whole new riff to them and taking parts out or whatever..does anyone have a program ?

Ive been looking for pretty much the same thing as well. Ive used my keyboard thru my rmx to make background synths and stuff. Also Ive run my guitar and bass through it. If youre not a instrument player youll have to find a program.

There's a couple of ways to make your own music, you can use a loop based program, like ACID Pro from Sony, where you take samples, loop them in a pattern you like and place effects to them (like a flanger). The end result, if you do it correctly, is music.

Another approach is to use a MIDI synthesizer to make new songs. A MIDI synthesizer would be something like Cakewalk. In a synthesizer, you have "virtual" instruments that you cue to trigger at intervals along a track, similar to a loop tracker.

The big difference in the two (they are both a kind of loop tracker in most practical aspects) is that with a MIDI tracker you can make your own instruments and a loop tracker you just add effects to existing sounds.

Here are some links to a place where you can get the software for less than retail:

Follow those links and you will find the best prices on the internet!

There are 2 good and simple programs to use for this.

This first is FL studio and the second is Ableton live.

You can pick up a free version of this that doesn't have the full settings and the full version may hiding about if you dig hard enough.

With these programs you can create songs completely from scratch using basic notes, sound samples and filters.

There are many tutorials on Youtube for the basics etc and once you have got the basics down it is a very fun learning curve to progress on!

Hope this helps
