I recently had an issue where VDJ would crash (see error below) when I tried to configure the slideshow plugin. That issue was apparently caused by there being no slideshow .dll nor config file in the plugins/Visualizations folder. I found those files in the plugins/VideoEffects folder and copied them to the Visualizations folder. At this point the slideshow plugin worked ok, but whenever I would exit VDJ, it would crash with the same error. At least this was better, because it was occurring when I am exiting anyway, but crashing causes all settings to be reverted.
I then tried verifying that moving the .dll and .ini files back to the VideoEffects folder would get me back to my original scenario, but it didn't. Now VDJ always crashes when exiting and when trying to configure some plugins.
I don't think I have ever used SlideShow since (recently) switching to VDJ8, so perhaps my .dll and/or .ini is corrupt? I did try editing the .ini at one point when I was unable to configure through VDJ. I also tried retrieving copies from an old backup from before I upgraded from VDJ7... no dice.
Does anyone know where the files should actually reside, and also if there is a way to reinstall that plugin?
And what is the difference between a Visualization and a Video Effect, and which one should SlideShow be? If the latter, how do I set it to be the 'AudioOnly' visualization?
I am sure that there are several crashdumps available at this point.

There should be no Slideshow.dll in either folder.
In VDJ8 slideshow is a native effect built into VirtualDJ, so it is best to remove the dll from both folders.

Adion, Thanks for the info.
I removed all of the SlideShow files from both the VideoEffects and Visualizations folders and now VDJ does exit without crashing, so that is good. Hpwever, none of my settings are saved, so I suspect that it is still crashing, just not showing a message.
I also still get a verbose VDJ crash within 5 seconds after activating the SlideShow plugin.
Luckily, TellyVisuals and TellyMedia seem to be working properly, so I can use those to workaround the SlideShow issue for now.

DjDad, all the SlideShow files are gone now, .dll and .ini.
I ended up using TellyVisuals and TellyMedia to do what I needed to at last night's gig (thanks for the solid plugins, Don Moir) with no crashes except for one when I activated the VideoCube effect. I didn't try any other effects the rest of the night just to minimize chances of a crash. Afterwards, I tried a few and most of the effects cause a crash either upon activation or exiting VDJ.
I am thinking that I must have screwed up something moving files around. Would you suggest a fresh reinstall?
