Product Description

Novation Dicer is a palm-sized cue point and looping controller that has been designed to fit exactly where you need it: on your turntables, CDJs, mixer or laptop. Dicer always ships in pairs-one for each side. Dicer works with almost any DJ software and it is optimized for use with Serato Scratch Live, Traktor Scratch Duo/Pro, and Traktor Pro. Dicer can trigger samples, cue-points, loops and FX. You can use Dicer to browse through playlists, nudge tracks backwards and forwards or it can be freely assigned to whatever functions you want. Colored LEDs behind each button tell you what mode you are in. Dicer was designed by Novation in collaboration with Ean Golden--DJ and curator of DJ Tech Tools. Ean came up with the concept of a controller that fits on the turntable, and his contribution has been crucial in helping Novation design and develop Dicer. Dicer has 5 dice pads which can be used to set and trigger Serato’s Hot Cues, Auto Loop and Loop Roll functions, with multicoloured LEDs behind each pad to show what mode you are in. There are also freely assignable layers of controls which allow you to control whatever you want, including triggering samples, effects or even navigating through track libraries and crates. When using other software, a pair of Dicers allow up to 60 MIDI controls between them! Since Novation was born, back in 1992, the company name has become synonymous with world-class analog modeling synthesizers and unrivaled MIDI controller keyboards and solutions. The product range continues to receive critical acclaim from the music press and win numerous awards for outstanding technology and usability. Fantastic build quality, true musical instrument feel and intuitive controls are just three of the reasons why Novation's digital musical instruments are simply a joy to play.

Glad I bought this
5 Stars
Glad I bought this
This is the best little add on I've purchased so far for my set up. Way more convenient than trying to mouse over a cue point or a loop in the middle of a track or a set. FYI: The insert didn't fit into my 45 adapter slot as it would for Tech1200's. That's okay tho - it comes w/putty and stays in place well.
Thank you for your feedback

Really slick! Such a simple tool that really helps in the mix. Plug 'em in before you turn on the laptop, and they just work. Couldn't be easier.

I use these with CDJ-800s, and while they work perfectly, they are a little hard to position. I decided putting them over the CDJ screen is the best spot, so I don't bump the buttons while I scratch.

It would be nice if they made a square or rectangle version for mounting on CDJs or mixers. Even a mounting bracket of some type would be cool.

Otherwise, these things are a really nice (and inexpensive) addition to my setup.

These are basic midi controllers with native mapping in Serato Scratch Live DJ Software. They simply just work, plug and play. Note DO NOT UNPLUG the secondary Dicer using the 1/8inch mini plug while the unit is connected to the computer via USB, it is important to first disconnect the USB from the computer before inserting or removing the secondary dicer connection. There is a warning about this in the manual/supplied documentation.

Cue points and loop rolls are extremely useful. Dicers can set canned loops based on the five displayed loop controls on each deck in scratch live for example 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 or 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8 for the buttons 1-5 respectively, you get to choose the loop size for each dicer control per deck.

These work great with CDJ or turntables, for the turntables they come with a mount that fits in the 45rpm adapter slot of a Technics 1200 DJ turntable. CDJ users can remove the dicer 45 adapter and use the supplied DJ Putty to place them securely on the CDJ top.

I use these every time I DJ. I'm still of the old-style of using turntables, and these fit in the 45 adapter port of my 1200's. They also come with some sticky-putty type of material for putting them elsewhere like CDJ's or...a table? Anywhere you'd like (bonus: the putty is reusable and doesn't stain. It's USB powered, so it can be placed in a hub or directly in your computer port. The cables are really long, and I've had no trouble using them in a 4-deck configuration (Dicers needing to be on far opposite sides.) With Serato Scratch Live no longer getting updates and Rane pushing Serato DJ, you won't get as many cue points, but it still works for loops and stutters. Personally, I don't need any more than five cue points but YMMV.

So if you buy these, make sure to buy to extended warranty! I have gone through 3 sets of these. I've changed cables and the units, for some reason they just stop working. I have these in all my systems, some of them are installs that don't get unplugged every night, and they still fail after about a year. They are when they work.

i run a rane sixty eight and unfortunately the cue buttons that were designed on it don't work. Therefore I use dicers to suppliment this function. I have been using dicers for a year and a half now and they only seem to last a few months before they completely stop working. This is my 3rd pair and ive only had my second pair for about 4 months before it stopped working completely. On serato forums and novation forums ive encountered many people who shared my frustration and experiences. Novation dicers are simply CHEAP midi controllers, i would never recommend this product to a serious dj. Frankly i think this product is complete garbage and shouldnt be sold to anyone.

First things First, Novation really pulled out all the stops when it comes lil Midi, it makes me sound 100% better then i really am. From Cue on the fly to the loop and auto loop it makes the Mix's come alive, it's just as simple as Plug and Play with Serato 2.0 or newer, you can scroll crates and load tracks to both decks with ease.
if you are in the market for a midi and use Serato, this is all you will need to spin like a pro so pick it up and keep the Party jumpin with the Novation Dicer Cue point and looping controler, you wont be sorry
